The mission of the American India Foundation (AIF) is to accelerate social and economic change in India. AIF mobilizes resources in the United States and India and invests these to improve education, livelihoods and public health for the marginalized in India. It has invested in over 115 Indian non-governmental organizations since its inception in 2001 and has touched over 1 million lives directly.
AIF New York Young Professionals Chapter (AIF NYYP) is the New York area youth chapter of AIF. With the goal of accelerating social and economic change in India, NYYPC has focused on engaging and educating young professionals about the work AIF is doing in India.
As a group, the NYYPC organizes activities targeting young professionals in NYC. These activities include fund raisers, social mixers, cultural celebrations, and speaker series, providing a common arena to interact and exchange ideas. The core team meets every week to plan these activities. The NYYPC also supports AIF – by building awareness of AIF and fund raising for some AIF-supported initiatives.
The AIF New York Young Professional’s Chapter strives to raise funds and spread awareness of the American India Foundation to the benefit of Indian NGOs dedicated to improving the lives of millions in the spheres of livelihood, public health, and education. For the urban young professional, AIF YP offers a unique opportunity to work toward the important goal of international development, while also joining a network of other like-minded professionals in the tri-state area. We understand that many young professionals must manage unpredictable schedules and to accommodate we offer the opportunity to participate at any level of commitment. Whether as simple as making a donation to joining the core team and helping us plan events – you can decide on your level of participation.
